  • Ted Baillieu is the Leader of the Victorian Liberal Nationals Coalition and the Victorian Liberal Party. He was elected as Leader of the Liberal Party in May 2006.

Ted is also Shadow Minister for the Arts.

Ted got involved in public life to help make a change for the better, starting with his membership of the Carlton Branch of the Liberal Party in 1981, which led to many years of involvement at the senior levels of the Party and a range of Shadow Ministries including Tertiary Education and Training, Gaming and Planning after he entered Parliament as the Member for Hawthorn in 1999.

Ted is passionate about improving the lives of Victorians, particularly promoting policies that encourage a growing competitive economy, services that work, government you can trust, strong families and vibrant communities and secure water and a healthy environment.

As a former architect, Ted knows how to build.

Ted wants to build a better Victoria, because Victorians deserve so much better than what they are getting.

Trust in government has been eroded by John Brumby’s culture of secrecy and cover-up, and by the absence of effective bodies to fight corruption in Victoria. Ted wants to restore that trust.

Ted is well-known as a keen swimmer and he swims most mornings.

Ted talks to ABC Stateline about the Coalition’s plan to recruit 2,640 new Victoria Police frontline officers and Protective Services Officers to make our streets safe, the Windsor Hotel scandal and the State Budget.

Ted Baillieu calls for action to help Shepparton flood victims.
